Activity Group (Activity list) is a feature that can facilitate the creation of new projects. Activity list groups together any number of activities and when new projects are created, it is easier to select all activities from the activity group at once.
To create a new activity list:
Go to Administration - Settings - Project - Activity group/type.
Click on Create activity list.
Give the activity list an appropriate name.
Save.
Click on the icon to the right of the row
Select the activities you want to include in the activity list by marking them on the left under âUnselectedâ and then click on the right arrow to move them to the right column âSelectedâ.
Click "Save" to save the activity list.
Activity lists are selectable when creating projects on the tab Administration - Project. When you create a project and come to the âPhases & Activitiesâ section of the project card, instead of selecting one activity at a time from the total list of activities, you can select from the list of selectable activity lists:
The activities included in the activity list you select will automatically be highlighted in the âUnselectedâ box and you can simply click on the right arrow to move them to the âSelectedâ box.
You can rename an activity list and add new activities in an activity list or remove activities from an activity list.
It is good to know that adding or removing activities in an activity list only affects projects that are created in the future. Existing projects keep their activities that the projects have since before the change was made in the activity list.
It is possible to deactivate an activity list (use the âDisabledâ checkbox) - this means that the activity list can no longer be used when creating new projects. The same applies if an activity list is deleted (use the trash can).
Projects already created keep their activities even after an activity list is deactivated or deleted.
Activity type is a categorization of activities. A common categorization is: External, Internal and Absence.
Activity types are used for follow-up. In time reporting, activity types are usually not visible - however, the time reporter may see a summary per activity type in the info view in the lower left corner of the time reporting view.
Activity types can be used to calculate the debiting rate. Whether the debiting rate is visible to the timekeeper or not is a configuration.
Activity types are usually set up together with a business consultant from Milient Software in connection with the installation of the system.
Contact Milient Software's support if you want to configure the billing rate and make it visible.
A new activity type is added on the tab Administration - Settings - Project - Activity Group/Type by clicking on Create Activity Type. The activity type becomes directly selectable when adding/modifying activities on the tab Administration - Settings - Project - Activity.
NOTE! Adding a new activity type may affect an already configured debiting rate or reports and calculations in Millnet Analyze.
It is possible to change activity type names - but this has the effect that each activity associated with the current activity type needs to be updated on the tab Administration - Settings - Project - Activity.
If you delete an activity type, you need to update your activities under Administration - Settings - Project - Activity.
NOTE! When you rename an activity type or delete an activity type, this may affect an already configured debiting rate or reports and calculations in Millnet Analyze.
