# Export templates

Export templates gives you the opportunity to create templates for file export any system. These templates are  based on existing dataset provided by Moment. \
It is recommended to have some knowledge of scripting and file layout to use this feature.

To make sure the export template and resulting file from this is correct it is recommended to have a description of the file or an example of an existing file.

## How to use export templates

Go to Setup / Settings / Export templates to [create](/help/moment-by-topic/integrations/file-exports/export-templates/template-editor/create-template.md) or [edit](/help/moment-by-topic/integrations/file-exports/export-templates/template-editor/edit-template.md) a template.&#x20;

Go to Setup / Settings / Export to Accounting to define an export template as source for the accounting export. For other exports (Time records and Expense claims), these will be available in a dropdown at the time of export.
