At the top you will find an overview of the progress in your activities. This will show a graphical display of the percentage of hours registered as a share of the total amount of hours planned.
If you do not plan any hours, the project plan will display a progress of 100%. This is due to the fact that given that no hours are planned Moment takes all the hours registered on the activity as the actual hours meant to be worked on the activity.
Another thing to take into account, depending on the starting and finishing date you have set on the activity, the light blue progress bars will shift position on the calendar accordingly.
Sometimes it is necessary to plan hours but you have no certainty on who exactly will be able to perform the work on an activity. In the project plan you can set up an undecided co-worker. This will help you keep track of future work which has not been delegated to any co-workers in particular.
You can start by first adding the undecided co-worker as part of the project by clicking to the "add co-worker icon" right of the "total hours".
Then, you can add the co-worker on the specific activity and start planning the hours.
Be aware that these hours that have been planned on undecided co-workers will also be available for display in your capacity overview, in the resource planner and under reservations. Read more about this here.
Moment allows you to create snapshots of the progress in your projects. These snapshots take into account planned hours vs registered hours, along with profit rates. Moment will also adjust the profit rates depending on the amount of planned vs spent hours. This is very useful tool for planning and analyzing the development of your projects.
In order for the forecast functionality to give the most accurate picture of the current situation of your projects, you need to actively use the project plan and periodically revise and make sure the employees register hours and lock their timesheets in time
To create a forecast, you can simply click on this Icon in your project plan:
You will then get this picture:
This information will remind you that some of the timesheets have not been locked. This is important. When timesheets are locked, the hours will be seen as the actual amount of hours spent on each activity. When the timesheets are locked, Moment will automatically adjust the amount of hours that have been planned, displaying effectively how many hours you have actually used on each activity, and each co-worker, relatively to how many hours were originally planned.
This information is translated to profitability and hours budget data that will be displayed at the bottom of the screen in the project plan. In other words, in order for the forecast to be accurate, you need to have good routines for locking of timesheets.
Adding a comment will help you keep track of the latest changes in the project's progress. In turn this will create a comparison image at the bottom of the screen:
In red, you will see the economic data from the revision (at the bottom) and the current version of the project plan (marked in red on the top)
The green square indicates the drop down menu that allows you to choose which revision you wish to compare the current project plan with.
These numbers can help you see how the project has developed from one phase to the other by systematically creating revisions to the planning in your projects.
